About Germany (In Progress)

Germany is a great place to live and an awesome place to just visit.  Modern Germany only dates back to 1870, when the country was established by Otto von Bismarck after the Franco-Prussian War.  The nation-states that made up the area prior can still be seen in the Bundeslaander, roughly equivalent to American states. There’s something for everyone here:  History, culture, shopping, sightseeing, etc.

The span of history goes back beyond recorded history.  Neandertal is close to Duesseldorf.  Trier was home to Constantine when he was very young and still has a Roman flavor.  The command center from which the Ardennes Offensive (the Battle of the Bulge to Americans) is about 45 minutes north of Frankfurt near Usingen.  The Roman Legions, the horde of Attila the Hun; and armies commanded by Charlemagne, Frederick Barbarossa, Frederick the Great, and Napoleon have all trod across the land.  Famous scientists like Gauss, Mach, and Roentgen all studied and taught here.  One of the oldest continuously operating universities in Europe can be found in Heidelberg.  Germany is an amazing place for all these reasons and much, much more.
