I totally agree with that assessment. This will become my link of choice to explain what’s wrong with this information economy. I have always known that Facebook, Twitter, and their ilk were wrong-headed, but now I have a smart explanation that fits neatly into history and our inate – shall I say it?

Hi Chris!

I just saw that you’re busy thinking and writing about economy. That’s what I’m also interested in for more than half a year. I set up a youtube-channel where I regulary collect and add different clips that make me think or explain things from a new perspective. So, I’d be interested what you think about it, it might inspire you for further thoughts. That’s what the world needs now! Have a look at ALL the playlists, not only those on the main page. Good post! And I agree that the man should get a medal, possibly the co-pilot too.

The captain is a class act that has become all too rare. Walking the sinking plane twice to be sure that all were off tops off all his heroic efforts.

I understand from an interview with one of the ferry passengers that after the captain was onboard the ferry, he just sat there sipping a cup of coffee like it was all in a day’s work.

I guess, with the career that had prepared him for this day, it was.

I admire all you crazy F-whatever pilots. I watch F-16 pilots fly over my house (if I can find them with my eyes since hearing is misleading) and think, “That looks like fun!” followed immediately by the thought, “Not in a million years.”

I hope that snappy phrase gets picked up by somebody, because I’m afraid that if you’re too big to fail, you’re too big to bail. Thanks for posting that — I haven’t seen it elsewhere.

I came by hoping you would have some comments about my new hero, Capt. Sully (U.S. Air pilot who landed on the Hudson). I’m so grateful that this man’s life prepared him for this moment, and for the miracle that his skill and God’s grace got all those people safely landed — on a river, of all things.

We needed good news and a hero. (Somebody who actually has done something and did something.)

This morning DH asked me if I saw the article on the internet about some woman trying to poison her husband with Visine. I hadn’t. I asked DH how you could poison someone with Visine and he said he didn’t know if you could poison someone but you could make them pretty sick. He went on to relate that when he was flying commercially he knew flight attendants that would put Visine in “unruly” or “demanding” passenger’s coffee. A few drops – you only get stomach cramps; half a bottle and you will be quite ill. I never even knew this until that you could make someone sick with Visine until this morning – and of course never knew that DH knew flight attendants that would actually do this!

Will have to share your joke with DH, later. I suspect he’s probably already heard a similar version.

South Carolina had tax-free gun sale weekend last weekend. I almost got some more guns to cling to.
